SJP FALL PLAY "A WOMAN CALLED TRUTH"-Sandra Fenichel Asher's "A Woman Called Truth" is a story about finding a voice, told through the life of civil rights activist Sojourner Truth, and highlights the universal and timeless themes contained within. The play combines imagined dialogue and vignettes, traditional songs, and Truth's own words, which gives actors an unusual responsibility: to operate both as participants and as storytellers describing real events. A highly talented cast and crew make this a powerful, fascinating, and often beautiful experience, transcending usual limits to create a unique relationship with the audience and with history.

Theatre Program

The Prep Theatre Department is truly a "community theatre" operated almost entirely by volunteers. If you choose to participate we hope that you have a pleasant experience and that you will continue to be involved in the future.

All auditions are open to any interested Prep student. The Prep Theatre Department has a policy against the practice of "pre-casting", therefore, every role is available at the time auditions begin. Roles will be awarded on the basis of auditions and callbacks only. Our goal is to involve as many people as possible in the production process.

If you wish to participate, please be sure to fill out an audition sheet (see below) for this production. This form will be used by the director to evaluate your audition. It is important that the director know your possible scheduling conflicts during this process. We also want to know if you are interested in working on a crew.

Students receiving an on-stage role are expected to help with other aspects of the production. We do not have the luxury of a paid staff to gather props, construct scenery, and build costumes. You will be asked to participate in the productions process in some way; please understand that we are "in this together" and that your cooperation is a natural part of the community theatre experience.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
