Alumni/ae Board Job Descriptions

The SJP Alumni/ae Association Board of Directors Job Description for Members & Officers
  1. As a KEY SJP VOLUNTEER, each member of the SJP Alumni/ae Association Board of Directors:
    1. Writes, or causes to be written, one story or feature article annually for PrepLIFE magazine
    2. Sets the example by making a financial contribution to the Annual Fund
    3. Personally contacts and establishes a meaningful visit with not fewer than 12 SJP alums annually who are not already included as “fully involved” alums; reports results to the SJP Alumni/ae Office
    4. Conducts/ hosts/ co-chairs/ sponsors/ is a major promoter - at least one Standup annually
    5. Sets the example by participating in all of the school’s major events
    6. Suggests to the Committee on Directors, alums who might make good board members
    7. Participates in the nomination and selection process for Armor of Light Honorees
  2. The Vice President of Communication
    1. Motivates other members of the Board to complete PrepLIFE tasks and web site tasks
    2. Monitors the pipeline of stories/ articles/ photographs/ features and communicates regularly with the Alumni/ae Office to insure quality, continuity, demographic diversity
    3. Monitors the school’s web site and regularly makes specific contributions and/or suggestions for its improvement and effectiveness
  3. The Vice President of Marketing
    1. Motivates Class Agents from Reunion Year classes to maximize attendance and participation on Reunion Weekend
    2. Where no Class Agent(s) exists, recruits, trains, motivates, engages Agent(s)
    3. Works with sponsors and hosts to maximize attendance and participation at all SJP Standups; builds a network of committee members (including non-board members) to help with this
    4. Collaborates with hosts to maximize attendance and participation at Major Events: The Prep Classic @ Madden’s, Gasthaus, Collegeville Colors, Legacy Dinner, Prep at the Paramount, Grand Tour
  4. The Vice President of Finance (National Chair of the SJP Alumni/ae Annual Fund)
    1. Builds, develops, and maintains a network of Class Agents (Captains/ Leaders) who work effectively to increase Annual Fund participation from each class
    2. Works closely with the SJP Development Office to set goals and determine strategies
    3. Acts as the “Class Agent” for members of the SJP Alumni/ae Association Board
    4. Supports special projects and capital fund raising campaigns as determined from time to time by the school’s Board of Regents
  5. The Vice President of Directors
    1. Monitors the work of the board; communicates and motivates regularly to enhance quality
    2. Nominates new members who will contribute to a good demographic balance on the board
    3. Evaluates the work of the Board and makes recommendations for improvement annually
    4. Communicates privately with board members, as needed, to enhance the quality of the board
    5. Serves ex-officio as chair of the nominating committee
    6. Serves ex-officio as chair of the Armor of Light Committee
