Admitted International Students
We are excited that you have decided to attend Saint John's Preparatory School; welcome to our community. Our commitment to you is to prepare you for college, but also inspire you to dream.
Next Steps 2 Prep
Use the items below as a guide to help you prepare for your first year at our school.
Step 1: Accept your admission and make the Enrollment Deposit
In order to save your place in the new incoming class, you will need to make the $8,000 non-refundable enrollment deposit within two weeks of receiving your admission decision.
Deposits can be made online using Connect2Prep.
Step 2: Receive your I-20 and Apply for a VISA
Following the receipt of your enrollment deposit, we will create and issue you an I-20. Immigration documents are sent to a student’s permanent address, and we reserve the right to cancel at any time if inaccuracies are detected.
Transferring from a school within the United States? You will need to send your current school the VISA Transfer Notification Form, so they can transfer your I-20 information to us. There is NO SEVIS fee associated with transferring an I-20. However, there may be other fees to obtain a new VISA.
Applying for your VISA – Preparation and Tips
Most students who have a valid claim for an F-1 VISA do receive one. The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) is a great resource for information regarding the application and supporting documents needed for your request.
Step 3: Submit all Enrollment Forms
All forms due: June 1st
Enrollment forms can be found and submitted under the "files and forms" page within Connect2Prep.
All new international students must submit the following forms:
- Enrollment Contract
- Consent for Treatment & Emergency Contact information
- Student Health Information Form
- Physical Form
- Immunization Form
- Science Lab Safety Contract
- Residence Information & Policies Booklet
Optional Forms – submit if applicable to student
- Minnesota State High School League Form
- Doctor’s Order Form
- Self-Administration of Medication Authorization
Step 4: Make necessary travel arrangments
Students are responsible for their travel arrangements to and from the campus. The closest international airport is Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP).
The Prep School is located about 70 miles west of the airport, and we recommend booking ground transportation with Executive Express; select drop off location “St Johns Univ – Abbey Church”.
Step 5: Prepare for Welcome Weekend & Orientation
Every International student will be required to take a placement test for Math and English prior to course registration. These tests are designed to provide us with information about what you have already learned in these subjects, so we can place you in the appropriate level.
Hotel accommodations for visiting family members
Your family and siblings are welcome to join us for orientation and welcome weekend activities. Although they can not stay in your residence hall room, there are several nearby options for them to choose from for their short stay.
Abbey Guesthouse – located on the St. John’s University campus
Holiday Inn Express – located off Interstate 94 (15 minute drive from campus)
AmericInn – located off Interstate 94 (15 minute drive from campus)
We are pleased to offer an Orientation Program to welcome our new students and families to the Saint John's Prep community. The goal of our Orientation Program is to help our new students have a smooth transition, provide necessary information and answer any questions you may have.
2017-2018 Orientation dates and details will be posted in January.
