Summer Camps 2013
Saint John's Prep is pleased to offer a wide variety of summer camps in 2013. This summer, we will have our popular Leadership Camp, German Camp, Art/Nature Camp and Chinese Language/Culture Camp. In addition, we are pleased to offer a new Science Camp and ACT Course.

NEW!! SCIENCE CAMP (DAY CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 10-15
Science camp allows students to ask questions, be curious and develop creative solutions in a fun rewarding environment. Students will be challenged with various science and engineering activities, while working in teams. They will also have the opportunity to ask, and create their own experiments to answer questions about the natural world at Saint Johns. Students will work in small groups with significant individualized attention. Includes lunch.

NEW!! ACT SUMMER COURSE (DAY CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 15-18
The ACT Summer Course at Saint John’s Prep is a weeklong day camp focused on preparing you for the ACT exam. You will learn test taking strategies as well as the structure of the test. You will have the benefits of both a Math and English instructor who will provide you will ample time to practice as well as correct your work. You will practice setting up, outlining, and writing the essay portion with the advantage of having a camp instructor read your work! Come review math, reading, and reasoning skills before you take the ACT! Includes lunch.

LEADERSHIP CAMP (RESIDENTIAL CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 8-16
Named for camp founder, Fr. Otto Weber, OSB, the goal of our Leadership Camp is to help develop important leadership skills in boys and girls, ages 8-16. Since it began in 1966, Fr. Otto's Leadership Camp has inspired more than 24,000 young adults to instill a spirit of leadership in their own lives and in the lives of others. Reflecting current trends, the camp will feature activities and discussions about gender-specific topics in leadership, as well as what it means to be a leader in an increasingly globalized world. Learning will be built around group discussions, team activities, and recreational activities such as swimming, canoeing and rock climbing. Includes three meals per day.

- Sunday - Friday, July 14-19 (Girls)
- Sunday - Friday, July 28 - August 2 (Girls)
- Sunday - Friday, August 4-9 (Boys)

ART-NATURE CAMP (DAY CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 9-15
Come to a week long day camp that takes you out to nature and into art. Enjoy the beauty of Saint John's in the summertime. We use the bounty of nature to provide us with materials for art and inspiration for ideas. You will spend your days creating art in a wide variety of media with time for swimming in the lake, canoeing, hiking and building sand sculptures. Art activities include watercolor painting, drawing, printmaking, papermaking, photography, plaster casting and more. Lunch is included.

GERMAN CAMP (RESIDENTIAL CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 8-16
German Camp allows the camper to grow, learn, and have fun in a supportve, creative environment. Designed with children in mind, the camp program encourages them to study the German language, discover the differences in cultures and meet new friends. Children receive individualized attention and work closely with counselors and each other in small group settings. Includes three meals per day.

CHINESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE CAMP (DAY CAMP)
Co-Ed, Ages 7-12
Chinese camp is a weeklong day camp open to students from 7-12 years old. Students will all levels of Chinese are encouraged to enroll, from novice learners to students in any Chinese Immersion Program. Activities are designed to fit campers with different Chinese language levels. Students with Chinese language skills will have an opportunity to strengthen and enhance their skills and students who are novices in the language will have an opportunity for exposure to the language and culture of China. Includes snack. Campers should bring a bag lunch.
